Holiday Get-Together in April!

On April 4th we had our annual holiday luncheon, celebrated with cheer, great food, even better conversation, and a crazy white elephant gift exchange. Check us out!

Second Child Syndrome

Pleasure to e-meet you. I’m Julie, the new Account Director at Umbrellas On The Beach. (Important note: I bring donuts and coffee to every meeting.)

Apart from donuts, I come to the table with some helpful skills including development of annual marketing plans, print production, digital marketing (from AdWords and SEO to website development and just about everything in between), CRM, campaign analytics and metrics reporting, media planning/buying, brand identity, market research, trade show strategy, and perhaps a few others I’ve forgotten to list.

In summary–integration across marketing communications is critical, and I’m here to support your efforts in any channel while ensuring they align with overarching marketing objectives and business goals.

It’s also worthwhile noting that I have a fairly prominent case of Second Child Syndrome. Second children are typically described as:

  • People-pleaser
  • Peacemaker
  • Somewhat rebellious
  • Thrives on friendships

I’m a people-pleaser to a fault – which aligns with a very strong work ethic. Negotiating falls within my skill set, providing you with cost savings and efficiencies in your programs. Compromising is also a strength, leading to cohesive teamwork and clear communication with your deliverables. Being a second (and middle) child has also enhanced my creative side, offering an acute perspective of your advertising message and execution.

Coming from a big family certainly has its perks, and enables one to ebb and flow in any situation. So it's only fitting that my new job title is "Account Director/Chaos Control". I'm excited to now be a part of the Umbrellas family!

So if you’re looking for coffee, donuts, or an integrated marketing strategy – I’m your gal.

I hope we connect soon!

On May 17, 2016, Umbrellas on the Beach had it’s annual spring holiday luncheon, otherwise known as Merry May! It’s a tradition for us to celebrate the winter holidays together in the spring because December and the first quarter are always pretty busy.

It was wonderful to spend time together outside the office. We missed Julie, our Account Director, because she started just a few days later (next year Julie!) and Haley because she lives in Ohio.

The white elephant gift exchange is a highlight and here’s what everyone received this year:

  • Scott: As-seen-on-TV magnifying safety glasses (perfect for an old man)
  • Michele: Magnet photo of John and Michele in the winning entries from our Panama trip’s cheapest/worst trinket contest and a mouse pad featuring Nick in his submission for our ugliest holiday sweater contest
  • Phil: Metal monkey soap holder
  • Marianna: "Vote For Pizza" t-shirt
  • Lee: 10 lb case of beer flavored jelly bellies
  • Nick: Donut shaped pool float
  • Tony: “Guide to Being Awesome” book
  • Pam: Vintage star trek action figure  (Jean Luc dressed as a Romulan?)
  • John: Akron t-shirt (from a recent business trip there)
  • Trisha: CraZSand
  • Jazz: Bacon themed items including bacon lip balm, bacon toothpaste and bacon gumby guy

Wow! Happy holidays Umbrellas team!
